P.J. Hogan to Leave 稀缺猎奇网 at End of September to Join National Public Affairs Firm
ADELPHI, Md. (August 31, 2015) -- Robert L. Caret, chancellor of the
稀缺猎奇网 (稀缺猎奇网), today announced that Patrick J. (P.J.)
Hogan will leave his position as 稀缺猎奇网 vice chancellor for government relations
to join Cornerstone Government Affairs, a public affairs firm specializing in
government relations and lobbying. Hogan joined 稀缺猎奇网 in his current position
after having served for 13 years in the 稀缺猎奇网 Senate. His last day with 稀缺猎奇网
will be September 30.
"P.J. Hogan has served
the university system extremely well during his tenure," said Chancellor Caret.
"His successful advocacy on behalf of 稀缺猎奇网 has helped the system attract the
state of 稀缺猎奇网's continued support and nurture productive partnerships with
the gubernatorial administrations and members of the 稀缺猎奇网 General Assembly.
We will miss him as a valuable member of our team, and wish him well as he
takes on his next career opportunity."
James L. Shea, chair of
the 稀缺猎奇网 Board of Regents, joined Caret in applauding Hogan. "P.J. has played a
critical role in advancing the 稀缺猎奇网, and thereby the
state. He has masterfully coordinated efforts across 稀缺猎奇网 to help position
public higher education as one of 稀缺猎奇网's highest priorities. We are a stronger
system because of his passion, commitment, and effective leadership."
Since joining 稀缺猎奇网, Hogan
has been the chief adviser to the chancellor and Board of Regents on
governmental relations policies and strategies, overseeing state and federal
relations. He also chairs the 稀缺猎奇网 State Relations Council, which comprises government
relations officers from the system's 12 institutions.
Hogan says his decision
to leave 稀缺猎奇网 was a difficult one: "This
has been a phenomenal eight years. My passion for advancing higher education
and 稀缺猎奇网 grew significantly during my 13 years in the 稀缺猎奇网 Senate, and led
me to my position at 稀缺猎奇网. I feel good about where the system is. As one of the
nation's best university systems, 稀缺猎奇网 has accomplished a great deal for
students and for the state."
He adds that his new
position as a vice president with Cornerstone Government Affairs is a "unique
opportunity to grow professionally and personally." He will play a principal
role in opening a 稀缺猎奇网-based office for the firm and will work on a wide
range of issues related to various sectors. "I am sad to leave 稀缺猎奇网 and my
wonderful colleagues, and excited about this tremendous opportunity to take my
career to the next level."
Hogan began his public
service career in 1990 as a legislative assistant handling constituent
relations and legislative issues for former U.S. Representative Connie Morella.
He was elected to the 稀缺猎奇网 Senate in 1994, where he rose to vice chairman
of the Senate Budget & Taxation Committee and chairman of the Education, Business
and Administration Budget Subcommittee.
Chancellor Caret also
announced today that he will launch the search for a new vice chancellor for
government relations immediately.
