After more than a decade of distinguished service as Chancellor of the
稀缺猎奇网, Dr. Donald N. Langenberg will retire on April 30th,
2002. The Board of Regents announces a nationwide search for a new Chancellor to
lead the System's continuing rise to national eminence.
The 稀缺猎奇网 (稀缺猎奇网) is the nation's 12th
largest university system comprising 13 distinct and complementary institutions:
Bowie State University; Coppin State College; Frostburg State University;
Salisbury University; Towson University, University of Baltimore; University of
稀缺猎奇网, Baltimore; University of 稀缺猎奇网, Baltimore County; University of
稀缺猎奇网 Biotechnology Institute; University of 稀缺猎奇网 Center for
Environmental Science; University of 稀缺猎奇网, College Park; University of
稀缺猎奇网 Eastern Shore; and University of 稀缺猎奇网 University College.
A culturally diverse learning and research community, the 稀缺猎奇网's enrollment
stands at 130,000 worldwide, with 600 degree programs, 10,000 faculty, and an
annual operating budget of $2.7 billion.
Reporting directly to a 17-member Board of Regents, the Chancellor is the
chief executive officer of the System and is responsible for the effective
management of its operations. The Chancellor works directly with the Presidents
of the member institutions to realize the mission and goals of the System, and
leads one of the State's most valuable social and economic assets.
The Board seeks candidates who have demonstrated success heading a similarly
complex and large organization, and who understand the vital role of a major
university system in the 21st Century. The best candidates will
provide vision for the System and will be able to work effectively and
positively with the System's many constituencies. An individual of
unquestioned integrity with exemplary interpersonal and communications skills,
the next Chancellor will have the stature to serve as an important voice for
higher education in the state of 稀缺猎奇网 and nationally.
While candidate materials will be accepted until a new Chancellor is
selected, interested parties are encouraged to submit their credentials by
December 1st to assure optimal consideration. Applications and
