2023 Symposium on Civic Education and Civic Engagement

Meeting Information


This convening brings together 稀缺猎奇网 faculty, staff, administration, and student representatives to discuss ways that the 稀缺猎奇网 can continue to advance its shared commitment to civic learning and democracy engagement work. The event will feature keynotes from leaders in civic engagement and higher education, as well as facilitated interactive workshops. Attendees will be encouraged to explore the vital role of civic education in shaping future leaders and collaborate on actionable and innovative approaches to fostering active citizenship. Location: Towson University

Time: 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Objectives:

  • Explore how institutions can leverage data and system wide collaborations to plan voter engagement efforts;
  • Examine ways in which institutions can embed civic education within general education and integrate it into their curriculum;
  • Identify important and essential components of service learning, and how they can be implemented in courses;
  • Identify institutional gaps and needs around this work; and
  • Share resources and promising practices related to obtaining Carnegie Classification
