Inaugural Cohort of Faculty from Five ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Institutions Named SOTL Fellows

The William E. Kirwan Center for Academic Innovation at the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø (ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø) welcomes Dr. Kelly Elkins of Towson University as a Senior Fellow, to lead system support of the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). This will include working with an inaugural cohort of faculty selected as 2023-24 Elkins SoTL Fellows from across five ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø institutions.

ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø and UMGC Form $2.6 Million Partnership to Support Expansion of Online Learning Across System Institutions

The Kirwan Center and UMGC have formed a $2.6 Million partnership, called ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø OnTrack, to work with provosts, teaching and learning center directors, instructional designers, technology professionals, and others to support and assess expansion of high-quality online learning across the system.

All undergraduate face-to-face instruction will shift to remote instruction for the rest of the semester. It will be up to presidents, provosts, deans, and department heads to work out detailed plans that allow students to complete their work and to fulfill all of their requirements.

Educators Learn to Teach With Technology

Educators from more than a dozen colleges and universities visited the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, Baltimore (UMB) for its first Teaching with Technology Day to explore effective ways technology can be used in higher education.  Public and private higher education institutions attended the event, and MJ Bishop, Director of the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Kirwan Center, provided the keynote address.

Cliff Kendall, Advisory Board Member for the William E. Kirwan Center for Academic Innovation, Dies at 86

Clifford M. Kendall, former long-time Chair of the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø (ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø) Board of Regents and Advisory Board member for the Kirwan Center, passed away on March 28, 2018.

Kendall’s impact on higher education in ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø is well known. He dedicated countless hours of service to both the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Board of Regents and the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø Foundation, and his incredible generosity to his alma mater, the University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, College Park, and to the Universities at Shady Grove has impacted the lives of countless students.
