Wednesday, September 10, 2025 -- The William E. Kirwan Center for Academic Innovation welcomes a cohort of 24 faculty selected as 2025-2026 Generative AI Pedagogy Fellows from across all 12 ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø institutions.
The Generative AI Pedagogy Fellows program is led by two Senior Fellows in Generative AI Pedagogy, Dr. Diane Alonso of University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, Baltimore County, and Dr. Tracy Tomlinson of University of ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø, College Park, as well as Dr. Jennifer Potter, Associate Director of the Kirwan Center.
This initiative brings together faculty who are already advancing generative AI pedagogy in their teaching and research practices. As recognized educational leaders in this rapidly evolving field, Fellows will serve as champions for the thoughtful integration of generative AI into teaching across the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø. The program aims to equip Fellows with enhanced skills and knowledge to guide their peers through workshops and collaborative initiatives.
Fellows will further develop their expertise in generative AI applications while establishing a cross-institutional community of practice dedicated to collaborative research and innovation in AI pedagogy. Through this network, they will create, test, and disseminate evidence-based approaches that address the unique challenges and opportunities of AI in teaching and learning.
Program topics will include utilizing AI in course design and lesson planning, leveraging AI in the development of rubrics, Gen AI and student feedback, and building AI bots for teaching and learning, among others. By working together on research projects and sharing their findings, Fellows will help establish the ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø as a leader in generative AI pedagogy.
As generative AI rapidly transforms higher education, many institutions struggle with fragmented approaches to faculty development and inconsistent access to AI tools. Our cross-institutional fellows program addresses these challenges by creating collaborative communities where faculty share resources, expertise, and advocacy strategies, enhancing teaching and learning experiences across the entire ϡȱÁÔÆæÍø.
